^{WHAT IS FITR (ZAKAT AL-FITR)?}

Fitr, also known as Sadaqat al-Fitr or Fitrah, is a charitable payment that is obligatory for every free Muslim who reaches the end of Ramadan and possesses wealth at or above the nisab threshold, beyond their essential needs.

The term fitrah refers to a charitable contribution given in connection with the completion of Ramadan. Its purpose is to help those in need and enable them to share in the joy of Eid.

WHAT IS THE FITR AMOUNT FOR 2026?

Traditionally, the amount of Fitr was measured using staple foods such as wheat, barley, raisins and dates. The purpose is to provide enough to meet a needy person's basic food needs for one day.

In modern circumstances, the Fitr amount is determined by considering the estimated daily food needs of one person.

The Fitr amount for 2026 has been determined as 240 TL.

The amount is calculated based on the minimum amount required to provide a person with sufficient food for a day.

Those who wish may give more than the determined minimum amount. It is also considered commendable to give according to one's own daily standard of living.
